The Manderson Hotel opened its doors on the 10th of October 1996. After an extensive renovation of the main house, it opened with four rooms and four members of staff as The Manderson Country House.
Michael and Ingrid who are both trained hoteliers, developed the hotel into a three star establishment, winning many awards and prizes as a Hotel and Conference Centre.
Michael’s sister Geraldine, joined the team in the spring of 2009. Since then the Hotel has increased into a 40 room establishment, comprising of 3 Suites, 7 Junior Suites, 15 Deluxe Rooms, 15 Standard Rooms and 3 Conference venues.
The Manderson is located 7 km from the small town of Stutterheim at the foot of the forested Amatola Mountains. And Stutterheim is located on the N6, 75 km North of East London and 100 km South of Queenstown.

- South African Tourism Association
In April 2015 Geraldine decided she wished to return to the U.K to spend more time with her Grandchildren and retired from the Team
Following the sad death of Michael in September 2016 the daily operations have been left in the capable hands of Ingrid and her unbelievable hard working and committed Team.
